Warren Harms, 68, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at his residence.
Memorial service was Saturday, Oct. 9, at Jurrens Funeral Home, Rock Rapids.
Warren Gene Harms was born June 15, 1953, in Hartley, Iowa, son of Earl and Alta (Hollander) Harms. He grew up on a family farm and attended Excelsior Elementary School, Harris Middle School and graduated from Lake Park High School. After graduation, he moved to Sibley and worked briefly at the Doon and Allendorf elevators. He continued his education at Northwest Iowa Tech in Sheldon where he received his training as a general electrician. He then worked for Otter Valley Electric and Rozenboom Machine & Tool as an electrical maintenance technician.
On Nov. 4, 2000, he married Twila (Kruse) Johnson. They lived in Doon, Iowa, before moving to Rock Rapids in 2014. He worked at Grand Falls Casino from 2010 until retiring in 2017.
Survivors include his wife; son, Chris (Lindsay) Harms; three grandchildren; five stepchildren, Rob (Susanne) Johnson, Raymond (Laurel) Johnson, Shellie Jacobsma, David Jacobsma and Heidi Jacobsma; 11 stepgrandchildren; four siblings, Dennis (LeAnn) Harms, Lorna (Ed) Swanson, Keith (Dorothy) Harms and Calvin (Joni) Harms; in-laws, Keith (Idel) Woodruff and Harlan “Butch” Kruse, Marge (Rich) Lorenzen, Eldon (Deb) Kruse and Ken Nagel; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Schmidt; two sisters-in-law, Arlys Nagel and Faith Kruse, and parents-in-law, Harry and Donna Kruse.
