Matilda Fisher, 94, formerly of Ashton, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Jurrens Funeral Home, Ashton, with interment in Gilman Township Cemetery, Ashton.
Matilda Georgina Arends was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Elgin Township, Iowa, daughter of George and Christina (Johnson) Arends. She grew up in Little Rock, Iowa, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1944.
On Sept. 22, 1950, she married Harold Fisher. They lived near Ashton before moving to Austin, Minnesota. They moved back to Little Rock for a short time before moving to Ashton. Her husband passed away in 1983. She worked in a retail clothing store in Sheldon before working at Lady B’s in Sheldon until she turned 82.
Survivors include her children, Becky Fisher of Renner, South Dakota, and Kimberley (Brian) Rons of Primghar, Iowa; son-in-law, Jim Monier of Cloverdale, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Amy Fisher of Hartley, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Tony Arends of Florida; along with extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; parents-in-law; children, Tom, Debbie and Tim, and brothers and sisters, Jeanette, Alice, Henry and Louise.
