Olivia De Graaf, 93, of Orange City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.
Memorial service was Saturday, May 13, at Alton Reformed Church, with interment in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City.
Olivia Harriet Starkenburg was born May 14, 1923, at Orange City, the daughter of Steve and Katherine (Den Beste) Starkenburg. She was raised and educated in the Orange City area.
On April 11, 1945, she married Gerald De Graaf. They farmed near Newkirk, Iowa, until moving to rural Alton in 1952, where they continued to farm. She worked at K-Products, De Vries Drapery, Village Drug Store, and the food service department of Northwestern College, all in Orange City. Her husband died Jan.2, 1995. She moved to Orange City in 1996. Since 2011 she has resided at Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community, Heritage House Nursing Home and Prairie Ridge Care Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Ron) Schneider of George, Iowa, and Deborah (Dave) Anderson of Emerson, Iowa; a son, Jeffrey (Marcia) De Graaf of Alton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and stepfather, Charles Pabst.
