Gerald “Jerry” Leroy Van’t Hul, 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, died Thursday, July 16, 2020, at his home.
Memorial services were Tuesday, July 21, at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, Sheldon, with interment in Richland Cemetery, Inwood, Iowa.
Gerald Leroy Van’t Hul was born July 18, 1935, at Doon, Iowa, son of John and Clara (Bakker) Van’t Hul.
In December 1953, he married Myrt TeGrotenhuis. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 he then served an additional six years in the Army Reserves. He owned and operated Van’t Hul Garage & Auto Sales from 1960-2015. Even after retiring, he still worked with cars by driving for Ron Drenkow dealership in Sheldon. His wife died in July 1982.
In April 1983, he married Linda Hengeveld-Vreeman.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Karen (Verlyn) Van Voorst andKen (Sylvia) Van’t Hul, all of Inwood, and Mary (Tim) Niemeyer of Alvord, Iowa; Linda’s three children, Susan Zylstra of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dave (Yvette) Vreeman of Centennial, Colorado, and Kristy (Mike) Burns of Colton, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and brother, Clarence Van’t Hul.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; infant son, Michael; one brother and four sisters.
