Dick Kracht, 94, of Luverne, Minnesota, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota.
Funeral was Friday Oct. 4, at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, with interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.
Dick Kracht was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, son of Ben and Jennie (Boeve) Kracht.
On Dec. 21, 1949, he married Alice Veldkamp. The couple farmed with Dick’s parents southwest of Rock Rapids before moving to a farm near Steen, Minnesota, in 1951. They began farming near Garretson, South Dakota, in 1960 and farmed there 25 years before retiring in 1985. In 1989, they moved to an acreage south of Luverne. His wife passed away Jan. 31, 2012. He became a resident of Tuff Memorial Home in October 2017.
Survivors include four children, Harold (Janalee) Kracht of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Helen (Gene) Noll of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, Everett (Grace) Kracht of Garretson, South Dakota, and Mary Ann (Steve) Carlson of Garretson; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Pete (Bernice) Kracht of Rock Rapids, and two sisters, Alberta Flatberg of Sioux Falls and Henrietta (Lowell) Wirtjes of Brandon, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Bert (Priscilla) Kracht, and a sister, Jeanette (Carmi) Braasch.
