Darlene Kruger, 94, of George, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society in George, Iowa.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Hope Reformed Church, George, with interment in the church cemetery.
Darlene Margaret Goldhorn was born March 22, 1925, in George to Harm and Minnie (Jansen) Goldhorn. She received her education from George Community Schools and went on to receive her teachers’ certificate from Cedar Falls Teaching College. She taught school three years.
On Sept. 8, 1944, she married Ira Kruger. They lived in Matlock, Iowa, and from 1952-1957 they farmed in Minnesota. In 1957 they moved to a farm west of George and remained there until moving into George in 1988. Along with teaching in her younger years, she also worked at the Campbell Soup Co. in Worthington, Minnesota, and as a certified nurse aide at Good Samaritan Society.
Survivors include her children, Delinda (Ron) Cordes of Gridley, Illinois, Robert (Harriet) Kruger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Marla (Rich) Ahrenholtz, Charlene (Joel) Bathke and Ina Faye (Alan) Hilbrands, all of George; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Van Tilberg of Rock Valley, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Don (Leona) Kruger of George and Arvin (Gerry) De Berg of Belding, Michigan; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law.
