Cletus Leo Schuttloffel, 91, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Primrose Retirement Community.
Private family graveside service will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Cletus was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Larchwood, Iowa, to Emiel and Helena (Roemen) Schuttloffel. He grew up in Larchwood, graduating from St. Mary’s High School. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.
On Aug. 20, 1951, he married Carolyn Hanson. They lived in Canton and later moved to a farm near Canton. In addition to farming, he worked for 37 years at John Morrell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His wife passed away in 2016. He had lived at Primrose Retirement Community the last nine years.
Survivors include his children, Mike (Darla) Schuttloffel of Valley Springs, South Dakota, Kim Winters of Tea, South Dakota, Cheryl (Scott) Rust of Centerville, South Dakota, Mark (Deb) Schuttloffel of Sioux Falls and Kris (Scott) Schemmel of Harrisburg, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ron (Henny) Schuttloffel of Hartley, Iowa; sister, Shirley (Ray) Swanson of Shakopee, Minnesota, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Cindy; brothers Ed and John, and sisters, Therese, Rose, Dorothy and Anita.
