Beverly J. Klinkenborg, 84, of Belton, Missouri, passed away in her home Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bev was born March 31, 1937, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Marian and Leslie Pettengill. She lived there until graduating from high school. She then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa, and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, majoring in elementary education.
In 1957, she married Delmer “Joe” Klinkenborg. He spent 23 years in the U.S. military and the family spent half of that time living in England, Japan and the Philippines. In 1973, they transferred to Richards-Gebaur AFB outside of Belton where she worked as an education director with military personnel for Park College. After his retirement from the Air Force, she worked as an administrative assistant at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, Missouri, retiring in 1998 after 20 years.
Survivors include her husband; her children, Karla (Steve) Craigmile, Derek (Jeannette) Klinkenborg, Joel Klinkenborg and Lisa (Chris) Corral; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother, Duane Pettengill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Raddle, and her brother, Dennis Pettengill.
